Charlie Lester

Charlie received his Bachelor of Architecture degree in May, 1980, from Syracuse University. Charlie also participated in an international program abroad based in London, England where he studied architecture, design, art and town & country planning.

Currently, Charlie is newly retired assistant director of the SUNY Upstate Medical University, where he was a facilities administrator and buildings manager. He once managed a staff of eight to thirty staffers involved in the maintenance and operation of several scientific research, patient care, daycare and office buildings.

Work

He studied urban and land use planning while taking classes in real estate development. While a grad student Charlie was an architect/planner at the NYC Department of City Planning. There he was responsible for the development of a variety of compound/complex urban planning and land use project throughout the five boroughs.

Charlie E. Lester is the youngest of four of Ephraim and Lizorra Lester. He was his from New York City, NY where he attended and is a graduate New York City public schools.
In retirement, Charlie enjoys International and US travel with family & friends and especially his wife Sharon, their adult children - Jordan and his sister Dr. Jenna Lester. In addition, he makes time for his passions of coaching track & field with the Central NY Impalas TC and SUNY Oswego, mentoring children and young adults at the Bethany Baptist Church, the Black Celestial Choral Ensemble of Syracuse University at Hendricks Chapel and in the National projects and programs of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. within the City of Syracuse and surrounding communities.
